Be Mine!

We were extra excited about Valentine's Day this year because Maeryn's
class was having a party and she got to bring cards to school for all her friends!

V-Day morning opening her card from Mommy and Daddy, complete with
a whole sheet of Dora stickers.  What's that Mom, take them to school
and share them with my friends?  Hahahaha, yeah right.
Yep, she put every last one of them on her shirt.
I had every intention of making it to her school in time to catch the party
(and get some awesome party pics) but for whatever reason I had scheduled
a doctor's appointment for that afternoon and completely missed the party.  :-(
I think she LOVED it though, as soon as we got home she insisted on going
through her bag of valentines and played with them the rest of the night.
I felt like a crappy mom for not being there...
So, we promptly had a party for two and took our own pics!
We definitely have the CUTEST valentine!

Luckily, I ran in to one of Maeryn's friend's moms at school the other morning
who did make the party and she had some great pics that she shared
with me on Facebook... WooHoo!

This is Maer with her BFF Lexi, they are apparently inseperable. Too cute!

I Wanna Dance with Somebody...

A little tribute to the late Whitney Houston.
One of the many female vacalists I ADORED while growing up!
Madonna, Mariah, Cindy, WHITNEY.

Ironic that we heard that song on the way home from Maeryn's first
SWEETHEART DANCE at her school on Saturday night.
Clueless as to why it was being played, I sang right along and was definitely
shocked and a little teary eyed when the announcer came on afterwards
and broke the news about her sudden death.

Very sad news and she will be missed...
BUT, the main reason for this post was to talk about this dance!!
(I'd say she liked it...)
As soon as we got there she was very eager to find some friends to dance with!
The DJ getting ready to do the Hokey Pokey.
You put your right foot in...
Maer's BFF Lexi, she just about tackled her when she arrived!
Ms. Tami and Maeryn
Kinleigh, Ms. Becca and Maer
Taking a break to color. :-)
Once we got her back on the dance floor the first song that came on was Justin Bieber!
Apparently that kid even makes 2 year olds go CRAZY!
She started shaking her thang, when suddenly she stopped, looked at me and said,
"I want to dance with Peyton!".  WHAT?!
Peyton is a little boy in her class and from what I hear he and Maer
are very fond of eachother...  Here's their big moment on the dance floor:
It was pure magic. LOL!

Me and my girl :-)

We had a great time, definitely missed our "sweetheart" (who had a soccer game),
but it was otherwise an awesome night!

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming...

Thursday was a MUCH better day for the Maer-Bear!
She had a good report from school, celebrated her friend's birthday
and got to go to SWIM LESSONS!

Note to self: Do NOT arrive early next time!
Maeryn was soooooo excited to swim,
it was everything I could do to keep her from jumping in that pool.
She stood and pouted... waited patiently,
put her feet in the water,
anxiously watched the other classes...
Until FINALLY, Justin arrived and saved the day!
WOO HOO, time to get in!
Kick, kick, kick.
Reach and Pull.
(Maer required a little extra help on this one)
Airplane Arms.
Head back.
Time to float...
She was obviously not crazy about this at first.
Justin was very patient and coached her through it.
Almost got it...
BAM! Good job Maer!
Swim and kick.
Kicking while blowing bubbles.
I think she loved it!
Using a tube to hold her legs up.
Looking good!
No Hands!

They ended class with a cute Alligator Song.
I should have done video of this because all the kids were singing and dancing along.
Look at the kid in the blue shirt next to Maer...  So cute!

Maeryn's turn to jump in... without hesitation!
Yes, I saw it! :-)

What fun, can't wait 'till next week!

Terrible Two's....

Ok, so I usually talk about how awesome and perfect Maeryn is...
Well, not today.

Here is the report Maeryn's teacher gave me when I picked her up from school yesterday:

Obviously there are some positives... she ate all her food, had a good nap
and went on the potty twice, and of course we still celebrated those things.
But we were definitely more focused on the behavior portion of the report.
What is happening to my sweet, loving, HAPPY little girl???
Unfortunately this report was not an isolated incedent, this was actually
the second one in a row like this and her behavior at home has not been great either...
I have heard the word "NO" more this week than I have in her entire life!
And she's just been so whiny and unreasonable... as soon as something
doesn't go her way, or we try to set rules or discipline her in any way you would
think it was the end of the world!
UGH.
It's normal right?  Someone tell me it's normal.

I've been trying to figure out if something is going on that is causing this behavior...
Are there teeth coming in, is it just this cold that won't go away?
Is it something I am doing?  Does she know my schedule is about to get CRAZY?
Or is it just the TERRIBLE TWO'S?

Yesterday when Miss Becca handed me the report (which she seemed
almost afraid to give me), she said, "don't worry, Maeryn's actually
one of our easy ones!"...  Can you imagine?
She and Ms. Suzi (and anyone else working with two year olds) are absolute saints.
These women are in a room with SIXTEEN of these lovely
little monsters ALL DAY LONG.
Here's hoping for a smiley face on today's report!

Daddy's Girl

Love them!

We Heart The Hairy Elephant!

No we did not get a new pet...
The Hairy Elephant is the name of the "Salon" where Maeryn got her first haircut.
It is just for kids and WOW, they have got this thing figured out!

Instead of normal salon chairs, they have vehicles (cars, jeeps, airplanes, etc.)
for the kids to sit in, Maeryn chose a cute yellow one and climbed right in.

Then, Jami (our stylist) asked what show Maeryn would like to watch...
Notice how all of the stations have little TV's in front of them, the kids
can choose whatever show/movie they want and the Hairy Elephant has it.
Brilliant!
Maeryn watched Go Diego Go.
Also notice the wall of adorable bows and hair products over on the left.
So, no... we did not walk out empty handed.

She was such a good girl!

After Jami finished the haircut, she let Maeryn pick out two butterflly clips,
and styled her hair with a cute little braid in the front.
When she was all done Maeryn said, "I look like a princess!"... ADORABLE.

Since it was her "1st Haircut", Maeryn received a sticker and a certificate
with her name, photo, the date, Jami's signature and a tiny little bag
with a few strands of her hair in it!
Here she is getting her pitcure taken for her cetificate.  She was soooo proud!
