Walking in Memphis.

Maeryn has become a pro at travelling with her crazy parents and our soccer teams...
Last weekend we were in Memphis with my Portugal girls and as you can tell,
Maer-bear fits right in with these 14/15 YEAR OLDS... lord help us!

I am so very grateful that the families on my teams take such good care of Maeryn
while I am coaching.  She has several sibling buddies on the sidelines and all of the moms and dads keep a close eye on her so that I don't have to worry and can concentrate on the team...
Here she is with one of the brothers playing with her farm animal puzzle.
BTW - Maeryn must think farm animals are common pets because
she thinks she's getting a horse and a goat for christmas!
No idea how we're getting out of that one... she told me she's asking santa for them.

After the finals, Maeryn sat with the girls as they received their medals.

She got one too!

Thank goodness Maeryn is ok with these trips, I just love coaching these girls!

...and they like Maer-bear too!

The LONG drive home...

Is my little girl really in PRE-SCHOOL already?!?!

Yes, she is...

Throughout most of the fall we have been going back and forth about whether or not we thought it was time for Maeryn to move on from going to her babysitter Jennifer's house every day or begin attending pre-school instead.  Obviously I'm a very proud mom, but Maeryn is a pretty smart cookie... she speaks VERY well for her age and has excellent social skills (way better than her mom and dad!).  We have loved Jennifer and it really was the perfect fit for baby Maeryn, but after two great years there where she was the youngest kiddo for most of that time, big girl Maeryn is now the oldest by over a year and a half is ready for something more.  After much debate and research in to a few of our top choices, we finally decided to go for it.

Maeryn started at the West County Day School last week and unfortunately has had a pretty bumpy start so far...  After spending 6 days at home with croup and then pneumonia, she finally got to go to school and meet her teachers and new friends.

Day 1 - I dropped her off in the morning, she seemed excited to be there and didn't even flinch when I left... not the same story when I came back to pick her up.  All the kids were sitting cheerfully at the lunch table for snack time, except Maer-bear, who was on the other side of the room, sitting on the floor, crying.  It turns out when she woke up from her nap and the teacher went to put her shoes back on her, she threw a fit and did NOT want to put them on.  This was a snag I had not anticipated...  Maeryn has NEVER worn shoes all day long.  At home and at Jennifer's house, the first thing she would do when she walked in the door was take her shoes off.  The kid has been walking around barefoot for almost two and a half years and her world just got turned upside down by a poor unsuspecting Miss Suzie!

Day 2 - A clingy, teary-eyed Maeryn was not thrilled to be dropped off but finally gave in.  Not sure how long she insisted the teacher hold her after I left, but at least she seemed ok with saying goodbye.

Day 3 (today) - The tears started when we pulled up in the parking lot and continued throughout mine and the nice lady in the rec room's attempts to distract and cheer her up (need to make sure I get that woman a great christmas gift!)...  As I drove away Maeryn screamed while her victim attempted to smile and wave at me through the window.

I know she is probably having a great time making a turkey out of her handprint or playing outside at the playground with her new friends.  That look in her eyes as I drove away probably only lasted a minute or two and and I am certain as soon as she started the first awesome activity for the day she completely forgot about how horrible I am for leaving her there.  Someday I will remind her of this guilt she has left me feeling all day when she just wants to stay out all night with her friends instead of coming home and hanging out with her super cool parents!

Cardinal Nation 2011

What a crazy couple of months it was for Cardinals Fans!!
After being 10 & 1/2 games back in August they had one of the most incredible,
record breaking come backs in baseball history - including a 3 home-run game by
Albert Pujols, and an UNBELIEVABLE Game 6 in St. Louis which
ultimately led to their 11th World Series Championship.

We weren't able to make it downtown to any of the games, but were glued to the TV
for just about every pitch throughout the playoffs.  What a run, what a team!

We did get to go downtown with thousands of other
CRAZY Cardinals fans for the victory parade...

There's Maeryn's favorite the Clydesdales, along with Tony LaRussa,
one of the most winningest managers in baseball.
Fred-Bird and a giant sized World Series Trophy
 The CARP!

THE Man, Albert Pujols!
 Rally Squirrel...
 Yay Redbirds!

 Maeryn and Grandma collecting confetti.
 Maeryn's victory dance!

Ladybugs, an "Incredible" and a Mouse... oh my!

Well, our first Halloween in Countryshire was an EVENT!
The neighbors in and around our cul de sac got together and celebrated with
all of our little creatures and had an awesome night together.
We had 5 or 6 varieties of chili with all the toppings and sides, there was a fire pit,
s'mores, hot chocolate and spiced cider, pumpkin beer, more candy than
we could EVER eat and the CUTEST little costumes I have ever seen!

Here is Maeryn, AKA Minnie Mouse, with Addison the Incredible,
and the two little Ladybugs Piper and Olivia.

 ANOTHER ladybug!
Sienna and her mommy Michelle.

 MMMMMMM.... Chocolate!

Trick or Treat!
Maeryn and Sophie the Dalmation (who is just a few months younger).
We feel very lucky to have such great neighbors.
I'm sure this is the first of many more fun nights we will have together!

Crazy Saturday nights at the Meyer house...

Lately, Maeryn and I have been home alone on Saturday nights a lot because
Kevin has to work at the soccer park...  Since we rarely have time during the week
to do things around the house, that is the perfect time.
Last Saturday we got really crazy and I sorted my closet while
Maeryn tried on her new Dora jammies, played with all her toys,
and best of all sang, danced and entertained!

Good Bye Potts and Rosemary, see you next Spring.

Last Sunday, all the St. Louis Kenneys had dinner over at Potts' house.
He and Rosemary are packing up and migrating back down south for the winter.
Joan had her camera out and captured some great moments...

Nursery to Big Girl Room, man that happened quick!

We moved Maeryn over to her big girl room a couple of months ago...
but I guess it just went so smoothly that I didn't feel an urgent need to report
the news since I am obviously very behind on getting these pictures posted.

Although sometimes Maeryn requires a LOT of attention, it amazes me even more often
how independent and perfectly content she can be entertaining herself.
She has an awesome imagination and I will catch her daily... singing, dancing, coloring,
playing with her baby or her other stuffed animals or toys, talking them through
elaborate make-believe scenarios and situations.

Here she is lying on the floor in her brand new big girl room.
I heard her talking to herself from the other room
and when I peaked in this is what I saw!

She LOVES her new room...
and does pretty good sleeping in the big-girl bed too.
