The best perk to my job... having the summers off
so I can act like a kid again with my two favorite little people.
We usually make a list at the beginning of the summer and do our best to check all the fun places off by the time August rolls around again.
Last year we made a pretty good dent in the list.
Purina Farms:
They have the coolest dog shows, with some incredibly athletic animals
that do some awesome tricks!
Most of their dogs are rescued and all of them are amazing.
After the dog show we tooled around and checked out all the other cool stuff at the farm.
Museum of Transportation:
We met up with some neighbors for a perfect day at the museum.
Maeryn, Trey, Sienna and Kiley
Exploring the old train cars was so much fun.
We even got to ride on one.
Afterwards there was a really cute play room for all the kiddos to enjoy
(and where the moms could relax too).
One of our favorites, the St. Louis Zoo:
We might be biased (and I'm pretty sure it's true anyway), but our zoo is one of the best around!
We have an awesome sea lion exhibit and show.
The hippos, elephants, and giraffes are always out and playful.
They have a special children's zoo just for the kiddos, plus a carousel,
train ride and so many other things that the little ones love.
And they even have a sting ray exhibit where you can actually pet the stingrays.
Crazy cool.
Best part... it wears the crap out of the kids! ;-)
Another outing we went on last summer was to the St. Louis Arch when Nana was in town.
The line was a little long to get in.. but we didn't mind!
Once we boarded the egg though,
not everyone was quite so sure it was such a good idea anymore...
But it was worth it for that view!
And we survived the trip - win-win!
Another zoo trip... Grandma got us a membership last year
so we took advantage as much as we could.
And the nice part is, the zoo is so big and there are so many things to see
that you can literally go 2-3 times and still have something new to do/see each time you go.
Lions, and TIGERS and bears, oh my.
There's something about animals that just gets their curiosity, every time!
Train ride with my peeps.
Wild Bird Sanctuary:
Probably one of the coolest places we visited
with some of the most unique and awesome creatures...
The Bald Eagle!
Johnny didn't know what to think about these bad boys!
Classic.
Can't wait to go back and see these awesome birds again this year!
Kevin and I even took an outing of our own last summer...
To the FABULOUS Fox Theatre for an O.A.R. concert.
Probably one of my all-time favorite concerts and a ridiculously cool venue.
Missouri Botanical Garden:
The MBG has a wonderful children's playground, the kids had a blast!
They had such a cute general store!
It was a pretty hot day so we brought swim suits and played in the splash pad!
Crown Candy Kitchen:
This was my first time ever going to this legendary St. Louis location.
There was a really long line to get in but it was so worth it!
Of course we had to get some treats on our way out after lunch!
Grant's Farm:
Tram ride!
Feeding the goats.
Love this shot.
St. Louis really does have a lot to do, there are still so many places that we haven't even gotten to yet.
I am counting the days until we get to start checking things off of our list again this year!
